Praying For Your Church

Sorry this is coming out so late. I’m running behind today.

When I really started getting involved in church one of the things I wanted to do was pray for my church. I’ve always been someone that preferred to pray specifically over generally. Rather than pray, “Lord bless our church” I would rather pray, “Lord do…in our church.” So I’m always on the lookout for ways to help me do this.

Over the years I’ve read books and articles that give Scripture prayers for the church. When I first started finding these things I thought it was pretty neat and I began to write them down. Over the years I’ve collected several of these Scripture prayers, got others from my own reading of the Scriptures and just thought of other things I want God to do in our church. For me this list has been something that is extremely helpful to me. It keeps me on track with praying for the church and helps me to have specific things to pray about.

These requests are not magic formulas. They are simply ways to pray specifically for your church. These are suggested starting points for praying for the church. Feel free to add to or modify this list however you feel the Holy Spirit leading you.

As you pray through these requests be sure to start by praying for God to do these things in your life first.

For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us?
