Many would have us believe that if we become Christians we will become prisoners of “religion.” They want us to believe that religion in general, and Christianity in particular is a laundry list of do’s and don’ts. Once we have become prisoners of religion/Christianity we will be robbed of any joy or pleasure that may be had. It is a self-imposed prison of misery.
However this lie could not be further from the truth. Becoming a Christian is becoming a follower of Jesus Christ. It is not entering into a religion with a long list of do’s and don’ts. It is entering into a dynamic relationship with Jesus Himself. It is not a self-imposed prison of misery, it is living life in all its fullness and it brings real freedom. Listen to what Jesus said would happen to those who know Him, follow Him and serve Him. You need to know that the message of Jesus is not one of prison chains, but one of freedom from those chains.
